ASSIGNMENT PREP DUE DATES: [note: assignments will be ordered so that the most recent one appears on top]

Due Mon, Wed, Fri, Sept 25, 27, & 29:

MON: [1] Read over Ross section 4.4 (on Qames/Qames-hatup) and then Complete all requirements for Ross Lesson 4 (see link above for Assignments for Each Lesson of Ross); bring homework to class so we can discuss questions. [2] Later on Saturday  (prob. in the evening) I hope to upload a short video going over the Ross 4.4 material and walking through the method for distinguishing Qames/Qames-hatup. Once I post that, I’ll let you know so that you can watch it in preparation for completing the HW for Lesson 4. Also, if you want to watched Charles Grebe from animatedhebrew cover this section, you are welcome to view it here on youtube.

WED: [1] Read Ross Lesson 5 (we will cover today). [2] Quiz on Lesson 4.

FRI: [1] Complete all requirements for Ross Lesson 5 (see link above for Assignments for Each Lesson of Ross); bring homework to class so we can discuss questions. [2] Read Ross Lesson 6.

Due Mon, Wed, Fri, Sept 18, 20, & 22:

MON: [1] Quiz on Ross Lesson 2. [2] Complete all requirements for Ross Lesson 3 (see link above for Assignments for Each Lesson of Ross); bring homework to class so we can discuss questions. [3] Complete for written HW the practice sheet called Practice with Shewa.

WED:  [1] Read Ross Lesson 4. [2] Quiz on Ross Lesson 3. [3] Review and memorize your 2 syllable rules (OPSRL and CUSS) and be prepared to write them down from memory (see Rules for Hebrew Syllables). Be sure you have all Lesson 3 HW completed. We will go over this on Wed, and then cover Lesson 4.

FRI: [1] Quiz on Ross Lesson 3. [2] Complete all requirements for Ross Lesson 4 (see link above for Assignments for Each Lesson of Ross); bring homework to class so we can discuss questions.

Due Mon, Wed, & Fri, Sept 11, 13, & 15:

MON: [1] Listen to/watch Dr. Marshall’s lecture on Ross Lesson 2: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. (These are unlisted youtube videos, but I’ve embedded the links.) [2] Read Lesson 2 and Practice writing the Hebrew vowels according to the Simplified Vowel Chart and saying the name of the vowels as you review. In order to practice, please use these two handouts:  Simplified Hebrew Vowel Chart and Simplified Hebrew Vowel Chart Practice Sheet. [3] Prepare for the Hebrew Alphabet quiz: You’ll need to reproduce each Hebrew letter with corresponding English transliteration next to it, in correct order) You will also need to provide the “final form” of the 5 consonants that have those.

WED: [1] Complete all requirements for Ross Lesson 2 (see link above for Assignments for Each Lesson of Ross); bring homework to class so we can discuss questions. [2] Read Ross Lesson 3.

FRI: [1] Read Ross Lesson 3. [2] Watch Dr. Marshall’s Homework Help video for Lesson 2 Ross HW if you want examples of how to work through different exercises.  [3] Continue to practice writing and memorizing the Hebrew Alphabet and Hebrew Vowels.

Postponed until Monday (9-18): [1] Quiz on Ross Lesson 2. [2] Complete all requirements for Ross Lesson 3 (see link above for Assignments for Each Lesson of Ross); bring homework to class so we can discuss questions.

Due Fri, Sept 8:

[1] Listen to/watch Dr. Marshall’s lecture on Ross Lesson 1: Part 1 and Part 2. (These are unlisted youtube videos, but I’ve embedded the links.) [2] Practice writing the Hebrew alphabet in order, along with English transliteration, and saying the name of the letters as you review. In order to practice, please use these two handouts: Alphabet and Transliteration and Alphabet and Transliteration Practice Sheet. [3] Complete all requirements for Ross Lesson 1 (see link above for Assignments for Each Lesson of Ross). Click on the link to see what specifically in Lesson 1 you are to do (what to memorize, which exercise numbers to complete, etc.). [4] Begin to prepare for the Hebrew Alphabet quiz for next Monday: You’ll need to reproduce each Hebrew letter with corresponding English transliteration next to it, in correct order) You will also need to provide the “final form” of the 5 consonants that have those.
